Introducing the 2019–2020 Core Team
I am a bioengineering PhD student originally from Portland, Oregon. My interests include hiking, cooking/baking, playing the violin, and studying the Bible.
I’m graduating with my MPH in Health Policy & Management ‘20, and I’m so glad to be back at Cal as a “double-bear” and involved in the Newman community. I love conversations over tea, eateries and breweries, impressionist art, LOTR, and exploring the beauty of the great outdoors.
Hi, I’m Drea! I’m a law student focusing on workers’ rights. I’m from Miami, FL and the daughter of Nicaraguan immigrants. When not in a meeting or event for a student org, I’m likely drawing, having a conversation that probably should have ended hours ago, practicing a Romance language, or saying the words, “Can I pet your dog?”
I'm Hilary Wong and I am studying law at Berkeley. In my free time, I love exploring hiking and cycling trails in the Bay Area.
Ian currently works at eBay and has loved engaging with the Newman Grads community to grow together spiritually. Ian enjoys skiing, studying the Bible, and eating.
Hey there. I am pursuing my Master of Arts at the Graduate Theological Union, where my research specialty is in the emerging field of astrotheology. I enjoy reading books, cataloging books, and then reading more books. I'm not that exciting, honestly. Go Giants!
I'm a math teacher at MetWest High School in Oakland, and I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2018. I love to travel, road bike, listen to and play jazz (piano), follow the Oakland A's, talk about education, and try new things!
I’m a third year Bioengineering PhD student from Indonesia & Singapore. I love doing watercolors, tango dancing, video gaming, and appreciating redwood hikes. The Newman Grads community has been an amazing spiritual home and I’m excited to keep it going & growing!
I am a Mech E PhD student originally from the Coachella Valley (where the music festival takes place). My interests include soccer, eating, and learning more about our Catholic faith.
I'm working as a structural engineer after graduating from Berkeley on 5/19, although I have dreams of a jazz vocals career. I'm obsessed with the NBA, especially my home team, the Houston Rockets. I love high pulp orange juice (yes, extra pulp) and earthquake resistant design. Looking forward to another year of growing in our faith together!
