The Student Ministry Team (SMT) is the team of twelve Student Ministers (SMs) who organize and run events and projects for the Newman community. They are the main representatives of the Newman Student Fellowship to the parishioners, the campus, and THE WORLD.
Each student is paired up with a co-chair (co). Together, the pairs chair one of six committees: Education and Faith Development (EFD), Liturgy, Service, Community (Comm Comm), Outreach, and Executive (Exec). While all SMs are called to live out the goals of the entire Student Ministry Team, each committee specializes in different aspects of Christian living.
Exec works to support and coordinate the other five committees and make sure that all of SMT is unified in its goals of bringing God’s Kingdom to earth. It is the job of Exec to provide spiritual nourishment for all of SMT and keep the other five committees in open dialogue with one another at all times.
Responsibilities include: All of SMT, the Newman Student Fellowship, General Meetings
Community (Comm Comm)
Because human beings were created to live in community with one another, Comm Comm works to create spaces for organic virtuous friendships to form. Comm Comm’s primary job is to facilitate casual social environments.
