An outreach to the poor and homeless in the Berkeley-Oakland area. Our monthly
activities include a community dinner on the first Saturday of each month
and food programs at the Men's & Women's Shelters in Berkeley. Throughout the year we conduct special drives for canned food, school supplies, baby items, and sundries. If you are interested in any of the activities, please fill out a Loaves & Fishes

NOTE: It is preferred that volunteers be at least of high school age.
Preparation for Community Diiner
Preparation for the monthly community dinner is Friday and Saturday mornings of the dinner weekend (first Saturday of the month). Newman Hall, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Community Dinner
Sit-down dinner for 100 guests and their children and distribution of 125 dinners-to-go. Volunteers help with the children, cook, serve food, host tables and clean up. First Saturday of the month at Newman Hall, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Shelter Hospitality Night at the Men's Shelter
Volunteers share conversation and a meal with guests at the Men's Shelter on the first Monday and third Wednesday of each month.
Breakfast at Women's Shelter
Volunteers prepare a full breakfast for guests at the Women's Shelter. Preparation
begins at 5:45 a.m. every Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers must sign up for
this event in advance.
Sunday Evenings at the Women's Shelter
Volunteers prepare and serve a meal to the guests at the Women's Shelter on Sunday evenings. Volunteers must sign up for this event in advance.
